Oct 31 – The Cornerstone!

“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone.” (Isaiah 28:16)

If Christ is your foundation, you will never be shaken. If Christ is your Cornerstone, you will never lose your direction.

We marvel when we look at magnificent buildings rising high into the sky. Yet their strength lies hidden beneath the ground—in the foundation.

We look at a tree blossoming beautifully and bearing abundant fruit, and we rejoice at its beauty. But the secret of its fruitfulness lies hidden beneath the soil—in its roots.

We enjoy the bright light of a lamp, but the secret behind its shining is hidden within—in the oil that sustains its flame.

Children of God, the secret of your spiritual growth and the joy of your salvation is found in Christ, your Foundation.

Christ was tested and suffered so that He might become the sure and precious Cornerstone upon which we are established. At Calvary, He shed His precious blood and laid the foundation for our salvation. Scripture declares: “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11) And again: “The solid foundation of God stands.” (2 Timothy 2:19)

What a wonderful assurance! Everything around us may change, but the foundation that God has established in Christ remains firm forever.

One of the names of Christ, who stands as the Foundation in Zion, is “the Holy One of Israel.” He identifies Himself with His people and is called the Holy One of Israel.

If the foundation is holy, the building that rests upon it must also be holy. Therefore, Christ is not only the Foundation of our spiritual lives; He is also the One who sanctifies us and desires that the whole of our lives should be holy.

The Lord is perfect in holiness. There is a holy fire associated with His presence (Isaiah 10:17). His holy fire consumes sin and impurity, breaks the power of the enemy, and zealously guards His children in holiness.

Christ is therefore the Foundation and Cornerstone of your spiritual life. He cares deeply about your holiness and stands with you as you pursue a holy life.

The Lord says: “Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:14)

Children of God, take hold of the hand of the Holy One and walk forward joyfully on the path of holiness. Do not depend upon your own strength. Do not be discouraged by your weaknesses or past failures. The One who is your Foundation is also the One who strengthens, purifies, and perfects you. He will lead you from one degree of holiness to another and continually transform you into His likeness.

Verse for further meditation: “And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” (Matthew 7:25)
