Jun 07 – My Meditation!

“Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.” (Psalm 119:97)

King David, who ruled Israel as a mighty emperor, must have had thousands of responsibilities. Countless problems may have troubled him. Enemies and opposition may have continually threatened him. Yet, in the midst of all these things, he joyfully declared: “It is my meditation all the day.”

When the godly man Tyndale wrote about his experience, he said: “In our homes, when the window curtains were drawn, our forefathers would read the Bible with tears. Even when tears blurred the words, it brought life to the vision of the soul. When business failed, when work collapsed, and when darkness and hopelessness surrounded us, the only hope of my fathers was the Bible.

At the same time, during seasons of joy, delight, and prosperity, it was this same Bible that guided them. It has always been to us like a well-watered garden.”

David says, “The law of the Lord is my meditation all the day.” But how should we meditate on the Word of God?

There was a beautiful garden filled with fragrant flowers. First, a woman came. She saw a lovely flower, plucked it, smelled it, and placed it in her hair. Within minutes, it faded and withered away.

Then a butterfly came. It sat briefly on each flower for a second and flew away.

After that, a bee came flying. It settled upon a flower, went deep inside, drank the honey, gathered pollen upon its legs, carried it within itself, and flew back to its hive.

When it comes to reading the Bible, are we like that bee?

Some people read quickly and move on. Others hold on only to one promise that suits their need. But there are still others who eagerly sit beside the Word of God, partake of those words that are sweeter than honey and the honeycomb, and then share them with others for their blessing.

David says in the Book of Psalms: “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:2,3)

Children of God, read the Scriptures eagerly! Consider the Bible as a precious letter personally written to you by the Lord, and receive it with all your heart.

Verse for further meditation: “More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” (Psalm 19:10)
