Jun 17 – The Prompting of the Holy Spirit!

“And the Spirit of the Lord began to move upon him at Mahaneh Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.” (Judges 13:25)

The Lord chose Samson as a special instrument to deliver the people of Israel from the bondage of the Philistines. But when Samson lived carelessly without valuing his calling and divine election, the Holy Spirit did not remain silent — He began to stir and move him.

Even today, the Holy Spirit continues to urge us to do mighty things for the Lord. Have you experienced the prompting of the Holy Spirit in your life?

The Bible says: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)

One thing the Spirit of the Lord frequently gives me in my life is the burden to pray for believers and ministers of God. He brings certain faces before the eyes of my mind. He reminds me of certain names. He urges me to pray. Through that prompting come prayer burden and burden for souls. Then He also grants the spirit of supplication so that we may pray with the right words.

I have seen believers in churches pray powerfully under the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and the entire congregation become filled with the Spirit. The anointing of God causes all the believers to overflow with His presence.

Likewise, the Holy Spirit prompts us to sing songs appropriate for the situation. Those songs become a blessing not only to us personally, but also to the entire church for spiritual edification.

In the same way, if our prayers, songs, and messages are led by the prompting of the Holy Spirit, there will surely be a great harvest of souls and abundant fruit.

There are also responsibilities on our part if we are to walk according to the prompting of the Spirit. We must continually keep our hearts connected to the Holy Spirit and carefully discern what His will is and what He is speaking. For this, spiritual sensitivity is very essential. At times, He may prompt us to meet new souls. At other times, He may urge us to visit hospitals and speak with the sick.

Children of God, when the Lord speaks to you, obey immediately. If you obey, He will continue to reveal deeper divine secrets and guide you further. But if you fail to obey, He may stop prompting you altogether.

Verse for further meditation: “Do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.” (Matthew 10:19,20)
