May 18 – A Life of Health!
“Your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily… the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 58:8)
What a great blessing it is to know that health comes from the Lord! Often, a person realizes the value of health only when sickness and weakness overwhelm him. Just as we understand the value of shade in the heat, we understand the value of health only in times of illness.
Many who are healthy forget to thank God. But when sickness comes, they complain and ask, “Why me?”
It is God’s will that His children should live in good health and wholeness. God promises both Divine healing and Divine health to His children.
- Divine healing – when God heals after sickness
- Divine health – when sickness is prevented altogether
“If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God… I will put none of the diseases on you… For I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26)
Consider Simon Stanley – the servant of God. As a student in Madras Christian College (1953), he surrendered his life to Christ and prayed: “Lord, help me serve You faithfully. Keep me from sickness and weakness.” And God answered his prayer. For nearly 50 years, he lived in divine health, testifying to God’s faithfulness.
Desiring health is not enough—we must walk in God’s ways. The Bible gives clear conditions:
- Listen carefully to God’s voice
- Do what is right in His sight
- Obey His commandments
- Keep His statutes faithfully
When we walk in obedience, we position ourselves for God’s divine protection and health.
Dear child of God, step forward to fulfill these conditions. Choose obedience—and receive His blessing of health. May your life be marked by health, obedience, and thanksgiving to the Lord.
Verse for further meditation: “Honor your father and mother… that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” (Ephesians 6:2–3)
