Nov 05 – Through the Scriptures!
“Bind them continually upon your heart; tie them around your neck. When you roam, they will lead you; when you sleep, they will keep you; and when you awake, they will speak with you” (Proverbs 6:21–22).
The Lord has thousands of ways to speak to us. He speaks through nature, and He also speaks to us through the Scriptures. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.
The Lord caused His servants to write the Scriptures and ensured that they were printed and placed in our hands. He has also joined His voice with His written Word.
The Bible may look like any other ordinary book. Like other books, it is printed with ink on paper. Yet it is unique and far more precious than every other book.
Every word of Scripture carries the Spirit and life. Because the words of Scripture are spirit and life, they possess the power to quicken us. They bring life to the souls of those who read them, and they also speak to the readers. Therefore, no other book can compare with the Bible.
From his childhood, my father had a great desire to pursue higher studies. His father, who lived abroad, repeatedly wrote to him in his letters, “My son, you must pursue an M.A.” Accordingly, he completed his M.A. He then desired to pursue another M.A. and completed that as well. He also studied income tax laws.
However, these books gave him only worldly knowledge; they never brought rest to his soul, the peace of God, the joy of salvation, or the glory of heaven.
But this Bible is spirit and life. It spoke to him, transformed him into a new creation, and brought life into him. That life exalted him for all eternity and brought the power of God into him.
No one can explain the Scriptures to us as effectively as the Holy Spirit, who inspired them to be written. When we sincerely and earnestly cry out, “Father, please speak to me. Please reveal to me the depths and mysteries of Your Word,” the Lord will speak to us through the Scriptures. His words of promise encourage us and fill us with courage.
Children of God, cherish the Scriptures, love them, and read them.
Verse for further meditation: “But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law, he meditates day and night” (Psalm 1:2).
