Sep 09 – The Word Gives Life!
“Revive me according to Your word.” (Psalm 119:25)
The Word of God has life-giving and restoring power. That is why Jesus said: “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)
The more you read the Scriptures, and the more you declare God’s promises in faith, the more powerfully the life-giving power of His Word will work in you.
When Abraham was seventy-five years old, his body was already beyond the natural possibility of fathering a child. Sarah, too, was past the age of childbearing, and her womb had ceased to function naturally. For a child to be born, the life-giving power of God had to intervene in their lives. Abraham’s response was simply to hold firmly to the promise of God.
The Bible says: “And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead … and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” (Romans 4:19–21)
The promises Abraham received from God strengthened his faith and brought confidence in the Lord. As a result, he became the father of many nations.
The Lord who brought life to Abraham’s body is also able to revive and strengthen you. Therefore David declared in faith: “You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.” (Psalm 71:20)
Hold firmly to the promises that the Lord has given you. Heaven and earth may pass away, but His Word will never pass away. The promises of God that you hold onto are spirit and life; therefore, they will surely bring revival and restoration to you.
David testified: “Behold, I long for Your precepts; Revive me in Your righteousness.” (Psalm 119:40) “This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.” (Psalm 119:50) “I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have given me life.” (Psalm 119:93)
Dear children of God, do not become discouraged in any situation. Do not lose heart. Never speak words of despair such as, “I can do nothing anymore; everything is over.”
The Word of the Lord is waiting to revive you. What seems lifeless can live again through His Word. He is able to restore you, strengthen you, and bring you back to the place of blessing and fruitfulness.
So, hold on to His promises. Read them. Meditate upon them. Believe them. Speak them in faith. The Word that gave life in the beginning still gives life today.
Verse for further meditation: “Consider my affliction and deliver me, … Revive me according to Your word.” (Psalm 119:153–154)
