Sep 03 – Feet for the Lame!

“And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking.” (Acts 14:8–9)

In the town of Lystra, the Apostle Paul saw a man who was lame from birth. Paul perceived that this man had faith to be healed and said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” Immediately, he leaped up and walked.

The Bible records miracles that took place literally and physically. It also reveals spiritual miracles. Even today, the Lord causes those who are physically lame to rise and walk. At the same time, He also heals those who are spiritually lame—those who have remained in the same place, unable to progress in their spiritual life—and enables them to rise and proclaim the Gospel.

The blind also receive their sight in a literal sense. Yet when a person’s spiritual eyes are opened, that is an even greater blessing. David prayed: “Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.” (Psalm 119:18) David was actually asking for spiritual sight.

The Lord has also opened the spiritually deaf ears of many so that they may know His will and listen to His Word. Yes, your spiritual ears too must be circumcised and opened.

There are Christians who are spiritually mute because they are ashamed to testify about the Lord. There are others who are unable to worship and sing with joy in spirit and in truth. But when the Lord performs a miracle in their lives, the restraints upon their mouths are broken. They become people who praise the Lord, sing to Him, and serve Him.

Job says: “I was eyes to the blind, And I was feet to the lame.” (Job 29:15). Job was a man who passed through a path of tremendous suffering. Yet he could say that he had been eyes to the blind and feet to the lame. Dear children of God, be of help to others. Be a source of comfort. Bring those who are unable to come to church on their own feet, help them attend the church service, and help them worship the Lord together with you.

During the days of Jesus, four men brought a paralytic to the Lord, carrying him on a bed. Because the crowd was so large, they could not bring him in through the doorway. So they opened the roof and lowered him down before Jesus. When the Lord saw their faith, He healed the paralytic.

Dear children of God, let us pray: “Lord, cause those who are physically lame to rise and walk, and cause those who are spiritually lame to rise and walk in You.”

Verse for further meditation: “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD.’ Our feet have been standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem!” (Psalm 122:1–2)
