May 29 – I Have Been Sent!

“O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” (Daniel 10:11)

The angel said, “I have been sent,” as he brought God’s message to Daniel. He also came to strengthen and encourage him.

Who are angels? They are described as the chariots of God. The chariots of God are tens of thousands, even thousands of thousands (Psalm 68:17). Just as a king sends chariots to carry out his commands, God sends His angels like chariots to carry His message. It is their joy to move swiftly, carrying God’s purposes wherever He sends them.

Angels have three primary roles:

First, they bring God’s message to His people.

Second, they fight on behalf of God’s children and defeat the enemy, and

Third, they worship the Lord and delight in Him.

At all other times, they stand before God, worship Him, rejoice in Him, hear His voice, and carry out His will.

In (Luke 1:19), the angel Gabriel, sent by God, appeared to the aged Zechariah. Later, he came to Mary and revealed how she would bring forth the Messiah. In the same way, angels are sent to bring heavenly messages to those who will inherit salvation.

There was an incident in a small village church during a dedication service. Inside the church, many decorative electric lights had been installed. As the service was concluding, there was a sudden electrical fault, and current began to flow through the entire gathering. Everyone realized they were on the verge of death. But the Lord was pleased to send His angel. He came swiftly, disconnected the power supply, and saved everyone. He could not have been an ordinary man—because any ordinary person would have been electrocuted. Truly, it was God’s intervention through His angel.

When the angel says, “I have been sent,” we rejoice in the love of the God who sends. We are filled with joy knowing we belong to this heavenly family.

The Apostle Paul writes: “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” (Ephesians 3:14–15)

Verse for further meditation: “Then again, the one having the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me. And he said, ‘O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong!’” (Daniel 10:18–19)
