Jul 24 – Human Schemes and Evil Intentions!

“For You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.” (Isaiah 25:4)

At times, evil-minded people may rise up against you. Difficult situations, opposition, and conflicts may surround you at your workplace or in other areas of life. During such seasons, prayer becomes essential if you are to gain victory over the negative influences and hostile attitudes of others.

Prayer offered earnestly to the Lord can transform a tense situation into one of peace. It can calm a raging sea and still a violent storm. One of the great secrets of prayer is that God brings circumstances and people under His sovereign control. David declared: “He will subdue the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet.” (Psalm 47:3)

Unless the Lord intervenes, confusion, unrest, and strife may continue. Therefore, seek victory through prayer. Pray against ungodly attitudes and destructive influences. Ask the Lord to keep you from being affected by the anger, bitterness, lusts, and sinful desires that often govern the lives of others.

Consider Solomon. He became king while still very young and inexperienced. Israel already had seasoned warriors, capable commanders, and wise elderly counsellors. Yet when Solomon sought the Lord earnestly in prayer, God granted him favour and established his authority over the people.

Scripture says: “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory.” (1 Samuel 2:8)

Look also at the life of Daniel. Though he was taken captive to Babylon, he remained faithful to God. He was surrounded by Babylonian learning and worldly wisdom, yet he sought the Lord in prayer. As a result, God made him ten times wiser than all the wise men of Babylon.

When King Nebuchadnezzar was troubled by a dream and reacted with anger, Daniel and his friends spent the night in prayer. The Lord revealed both the dream and its interpretation. The king’s wrath was turned away, and divine favour replaced impending judgment.

The Lord has given His people authority to pray and trust Him in every circumstance. Use that privilege boldly. Prayer changes situations, softens hearts, and brings divine intervention. It transforms struggles and opens the way for God’s peace and guidance.

Children of God, continue steadfastly in prayer. The Lord is your refuge in every storm, your shelter in every trial, and your strength in every battle.

Verse for further meditation: “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.” (Psalm 91:7)
