Jul 18 – The Royal Crown!

“To bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown.” (Esther 1:11)

In the book of Esther, we read about King Ahasuerus hosting a great banquet and commanding that Queen Vashti be brought before him wearing her royal crown. However, she refused the king’s command.

Today, the King of kings, the Lord Jesus Christ, is calling His people to the marriage supper of the Lamb. He desires to adorn us with spiritual beauty and heavenly glory. Yet the adornment He seeks is not merely outward—it is primarily inward.

The first adornment God desires is holiness. Therefore, we must worship Him in the beauty of holiness. When we come into His presence, we should come clothed in the garments He has provided—the garment of salvation and the robe of righteousness.

Secondly, the adornment of God’s children is a life of consecration and surrender. The Psalmist says: “Forget your own people also, and your father’s house; so the King will greatly desire your beauty.” (Psalm 45:10–11)

In a spiritual sense, “your father’s house” points to the old nature inherited from Adam—the tendencies of disobedience and self-will. This is why God called Abraham, saying: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1) The Lord desires that we leave behind the old life and fully devote ourselves to Him.

Thirdly, the true adornment of God’s people is not external beauty but inward character. The Apostle Peter writes: “Do not let your adornment be merely outward… rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” (1 Peter 3:3–4) A gentle and peaceful spirit is of great value before God.

Not only has the Lord adorned His children, but He has also promised them crowns. These crowns symbolize the anointing, authority, responsibility, and spiritual privileges that He grants to His faithful servants.

Those who persevere in faith, finish their course, and remain true to Christ will one day receive the crown of righteousness. As Paul testified: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)

Children of God, let us be adorned with holiness, consecration, humility, and a Christlike spirit, so that we may be found worthy to stand before the King and receive the crowns He has prepared for those who love Him.

Verse for further meditation: “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” (James 1:12)
