Aug 12 – Seek the Lord!

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

The blessings that come from seeking the Lord are beyond measure. His eyes eagerly look to see whether you will seek Him. When you seek Him, you will surely find Him. He is rich in grace – ready to open when you knock and to give when you ask. If you seek the Lord with all your heart, you will certainly find Him.

“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

From the belly of the great fish, Jonah sought the Lord. The Lord heard his cry, spared his life, and graciously restored him to continue the ministry to which he had been called.

David, too, sought the Lord while hiding in a cave. Psalm 142 bears the title, “A Prayer when he was in the cave.” Just as a lion fiercely hunts its prey, Saul relentlessly pursued David with even greater determination. Satan also opposed him. Yet, in the midst of those desperate circumstances, David sought the Lord. His testimony was: “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

As David reflected on the lion, he wrote: “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” (Psalm 34:10)

Do not become discouraged by dwelling on your problems. Do not be overwhelmed by life’s battles. Even in the midst of adversity, seek the Lord. He will hasten to your help.

Perhaps many blessings that should have come your way have been delayed for years. Your children’s marriages may seem to face one obstacle after another. At such times, seek the face of the Lord with fasting and prayer. Allow Him to search your heart. Ask Him to reveal any shortcomings, any hidden sin, or any bitterness or resentment you may be holding against another person. Remove every hindrance through repentance and earnest prayer. The Lord will surely hear you and graciously grant you His goodness and His blessing.

Hannah was unwilling to remain under the reproach and humiliation of barrenness. She came to the house of the Lord, sought His face, and poured out her heart before Him with a vow. The Lord answered her prayer and graciously blessed her with a godly son. He is able to work the same miracle in your life.

Dear children of God, the days of reproach and shame are coming to an end. The season of your sorrow is drawing to its close.

Verse for further meditation: “The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:2)
