Nov 04 – He Will Speak Through Other Tongues!
“For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people” (Isaiah 28:11).
Through the Holy Spirit, God’s anointing has been poured into us, and we receive the triumphant shout of the King. Because the Spirit of the Lord dwells within us, He speaks through us. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). He is Almighty, the King of kings!
There are thousands of languages in the world. When we are filled with the Spirit, the Lord speaks to us through the language He chooses. The depths of our hearts come to understand it. In the days of the early apostles, whenever the Spirit was poured out upon the people, they spoke in other tongues.
Once, after returning from Korea, my father shared his experience with me. When Pastor Paul Yonggi Cho preached during the Sunday worship service, interpreters seated in small rooms behind him translated the sermon into various languages.
Each interpreter was given a small earpiece. By turning a small device placed before them, the listeners could hear the sermon in different languages through their earpieces.
The languages included German, Japanese, Chinese, French, and English. One could simply turn the device to select the language one needed. In the same way, when we turn our hearts towards heaven and begin to pray, heavenly and earthly languages flow from within us, helping us draw closer to God.
At times, when we speak in other tongues, the Lord grants us the ability to understand their meaning. This is called the gift of the interpretation of tongues. Through this gift, we can interpret the tongues we speak ourselves and also understand and interpret the tongues spoken by others.
Those who speak in tongues often remain satisfied with the gift of speaking and do not seek to go further. But the Bible says, “Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret” (1 Corinthians 14:13).
The Holy Spirit is the One who enables us to speak in other tongues. He is also the One who gives the interpretation, conveying the meaning of those words in our mother tongue. This is what we repeatedly read in Scripture when it speaks of the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Children of God, the Lord will speak to us through other tongues.
Verse for further meditation: “In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues” (Mark 16:17).
