Jul 09 – Another Voice!
“And I heard another voice from heaven saying, ‘Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.’” (Revelation 18:4)
A voice from heaven issues a solemn warning: “Do not participate in the sins of Babylon the Great. If you share in her sins, you will also share in her judgments.” Here we are introduced to a woman who symbolizes temptation and spiritual corruption.
The book of Revelation speaks of four women.
The first is Jezebel. While addressing the church in Thyatira, the Lord warned: “You allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.” (Revelation 2:20). Those who present themselves as spiritual leaders while spreading deception and moral compromise are dangerous. We must remain alert and discerning.
The second is Babylon the Great, described as: “The mother of harlots and of the abominations of the earth.” (Revelation 17:5). John saw that she was intoxicated with the blood of the saints and the martyrs of Jesus. Because of her wickedness, heaven itself issued a warning: “Come out of her, My people.” Her sins had reached unto heaven, and God had remembered her iniquities (Revelation 18:4–5).
In these last days, Satan has unleashed powerful influences that appeal to human desires and fleshly appetites. Even some forms of religious expression can become more focused on entertainment than on true worship. Activities that imitate worldly culture while neglecting holiness can distract believers from genuine devotion to Christ. Therefore, God’s people must be careful not to become entangled in anything that weakens spiritual purity or draws their hearts away from the Lord.
The third woman appears in Revelation 12—a woman clothed with the sun. The sun points us to Christ, the Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2). Those who belong to Him are called to reflect His glory. The Scripture declares: “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1)
The fourth woman is found later in Revelation. She is the Bride of the Lamb—the pure and faithful Church. “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” (Revelation 19:7) She is the chaste virgin who remains devoted to Christ, prepared for His coming (Revelation 19:7–9).
Children of God, remain united with Christ and faithful to His Church. Keep yourselves without sin and spiritual compromise. As you walk in holiness and devotion, you can look forward with confidence to being found ready when the Lord returns.
Verse for further meditation: “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” (Revelation 19:7)
