Jun 03 – Wholeheartedly!
“My heart is with the rulers of Israel who offered themselves willingly with the people.” (Judges 5:9)
Deborah, the judge of Israel, longed for wholehearted devotion. The leaders of Israel willingly offered themselves to stand together with Deborah in battle. Because they united wholeheartedly for the Lord’s cause, they gained victory, and the name of the Lord was glorified. Deborah’s heart overflowed with joy, and she began to praise the Lord.
What a great blessing it is when children in a family stand wholeheartedly with their parents! And when daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, and grandchildren live together in unity, there is hardly a greater blessing in a household. Especially during times of struggle, sorrow, and hardship, if everyone in the home stands together with one heart, it brings great joy—and also victory in those battles.
To be wholehearted means to serve willingly with one’s full heart. Some people follow the Lord casually. Others follow Him out of duty or compulsion. Some seek Him merely for personal gain and blessings. But others truly love the Lord and follow Him wholeheartedly.
When the Lord desired the tabernacle to be built, He told Moses: “From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.” (Exodus 25:2)
Following this command, men and women with willing hearts joyfully offered their ornaments and possessions (Exodus 35:22,29). When wholeheartedness comes, unity follows. And where unity exists, revival surely comes.
The true strength behind any blessed organization, ministry, or institution lies in its wholehearted workers. They do not merely work for an organization—they labour for the Lord Himself. That is why the Apostle Paul exhorts us:
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” (Colossians 3:23)
Likewise, while writing to Philemon, Paul said that good should not be done out of compulsion, but willingly (Philemon 1:14). The Lord truly delights in wholeheartedness.
Just as you expect others to stand with you wholeheartedly, you too must stand wholeheartedly with the Lord. Give generously and willingly for His Gospel ministry. Sit joyfully at His feet in prayer. Read His Word with hunger and sincerity. Praise and worship Him wholeheartedly. Express your love for Him freely and fully.
Verse for further meditation: “Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness…” (Psalm 110:3)
