Sep 25 – No Evil Shall Befall You!

“The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.” (Psalm 121:7)

We live in a world filled with dangers and evils—dangers arising from circumstances, dangers caused by wicked people, and dangers resulting from accidents and sickness. Dangers can also come through drought, extreme heat and many other situations. Yet, the Lord is able to stand in our midst and preserve us from every evil.

There was a young man named Jabez who, in the midst of his difficult circumstances, cried out to the Lord in prayer: “Oh, … that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” (1 Chronicles 4:10) And God granted him what he requested.

Are you weighed down with sorrow? Have you already experienced great trouble? Pray like Jabez. The Lord who can turn sorrow into joy is able to preserve you from the very things that would bring sorrow and pain into your life. “The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst; You shall see disaster no more.” (Zephaniah 3:15)

Satan is the one who desires to bring harm into our lives. He may attempt to do so directly or through various circumstances and people. But the Lord will crush the serpent’s head and preserve us from all his schemes. He will never abandon His children to the power of the enemy.

Therefore, let us remain steadfast in the Lord and continually seek His presence. The Lord has promised us a glorious future—a kingdom in which evil and destruction will have no place. Because the Lord is with us, evil cannot ultimately prevail against us.

“They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:9)

Let us also make a firm decision never to desire evil against anyone. Do not speak evil of others. Even when people have done wrong to you, choose to do good to them.

When you love your enemies and respond to evil with goodness, the Lord Himself will take up your cause and fight your battles. Scripture says: “Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster, and will not call back His words. But will arise against the house of evildoers, and against the help of those who work iniquity.” (Isaiah 31:2)

Dear children of God, even if those whom you trusted turn away from you, God will never leave you. He has given us this covenant promise: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

He is with you even today. He will guide you, preserve you and lead you safely through every circumstance. And remember: God is able to turn even what was intended for evil into something that accomplishes His good purpose.

Verse for further meditation: “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” (Genesis 50:20)
