Jul 26 – Confused Knowledge!

“And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.” (Ecclesiastes 12:12)

Knowledge and wisdom are essential for human life. Yet many, through excessive dependence on human learning and philosophies that contradict Scripture, become confused and begin to claim, “According to the theory of evolution, God did not create the world; it came into existence on its own.”

Because they do not glorify God, their hearts become darkened, and they are trapped in futile reasoning and confusion. Such people ask questions but often pass by without seeking the true answer. They attempt to understand the mind of the Creator through their own limited intellect.

Knowledge and understanding are gained not only through education but also through circumstances, friendships, experiences, and habits. As a result, a person’s mind can often become troubled and unsettled.

Consider a businessman who suddenly learns that the value of his merchandise has drastically fallen. As he thinks about the losses he may suffer, anxiety begins to overwhelm him. The more he dwells on the problem, the more distressed he becomes, and no satisfactory solution seems to appear.

But if you place your burden upon the Lord, trust Him, and begin to praise Him, then the promise of God becomes yours: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

The king of Israel was greatly troubled by the severe famine in the land (2 Kings 6:25–30). Yet the prophet Elisha, who walked closely with God, encouraged the king. Then the Lord caused the enemy to hear the sound of a great army approaching (2 Kings 7:6). In fear, they abandoned their possessions and fled. Through God’s intervention, the nation was delivered from famine in a single day.

Those who seek the Lord will not be overcome by anxiety caused by human reasoning or by disturbing news. The peace of God will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Dedicate your knowledge and understanding to the Lord. The greatest knowledge of all is the knowledge of God’s Word. Do not read the Scriptures casually; read them prayerfully. As you do, the Lord will reveal the deep truths and hidden treasures of His Word and richly bless your life.

Children of God, blessed is the person who meditates on the Word of God day and night.
