Oct 06 – The Blessings of Asher!

“Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be.” (Deuteronomy 33:25)

When Moses was 120 years old, he realized that the day of his departure was drawing near. Therefore, he determined to bless all the people of Israel, tribe by tribe. The Spirit of the Lord came upon him with a prophetic anointing, and he pronounced blessings over each tribe.

Genesis 49 records the blessings that Jacob pronounced over his twelve sons toward the end of his life. In the same way, Deuteronomy 33 records the blessings that Moses, the man of God, pronounced over the twelve tribes of Israel.

The promise and blessing mentioned above were given specifically to the family of Asher. The name Asher means “happy” or “blessed.” As children of God, you should always rejoice and be glad in the Lord (Philippians 4:4). “The joy of the LORD is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). Those who possess true joy are able to bring joy to others as well.

The Bible says: “Asher is most blessed of sons; Let him be favoured by his brothers, And let him dip his foot in oil.” (Deuteronomy 33:24)

And concerning him, Moses declared that his sandals would be strengthened with iron and bronze, and that his strength would be according to his days. If you are inheriting the blessings of Asher, you must gird yourself with the strength of God.

Because you are on a spiritual journey and are travelling through rough and difficult paths, you need strength. The Lord has promised you power from on high (Luke 24:49).

When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will surely receive power (Acts 1:8). The prophet Isaiah declares: “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31)

You must never become weary or stagger in weakness in your spiritual life. You must cross mountains and hills. You must engage in spiritual warfare against the powers of darkness in the heavenly realms and overcome them. The Bible clearly says: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.”

(Psalm 34:19)

Children of God, the One who goes before you as the pillar of cloud is walking with you on your journey of life. Thousands upon thousands of angels are going before you. Multitudes upon multitudes of believers are travelling alongside you as an army of faith.

You are drawing near to the heavenly Canaan. Therefore, do not be afraid of the roughness of the road or the challenges that lie ahead. The Lord who has brought you this far will give you strength for every step. His promise remains: “As your days, so shall your strength be.” (Deuteronomy 33:25)

Verse for further meditation: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life.” (Psalm 23:6)
