Sep 17 – He Will Be Glorious!
“The LORD will be your everlasting light, And your God your glory.” (Isaiah 60:19)
Isaiah chapter 60 is one of the most beautiful and profound chapters in the book of Isaiah. It is a chapter that speaks about the glory of God. It begins with these stirring words: “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1)
For all who arise and shine for the Lord, the Lord Himself will be their everlasting light and their glory (Isaiah 60:19).
The first experience of the Christian life is the experience of beholding God’s glory. Moses longed to see the glory of God. He was hidden in the cleft of the rock, where he experienced the glory of the Lord. David also longed to behold the glory of God.
“One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.” (Psalm 27:4)
Again, David says: “So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.” (Psalm 63:2)
The second experience is the experience of reflecting glory. When Moses remained in the presence of the Lord on Mount Sinai for forty days, his face began to shine without him even being aware of it. Indeed, the faces of those who wait before the Lord in His presence, day and night, will begin to shine. Their lives, too, will radiate His light. The experience of reflecting the glory of God is a truly precious one.
The third experience is the experience of being filled with the anointing of glory. The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of glory (1 Peter 4:14). When we receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the God of glory comes to dwell within us.
“Lift up your heads, O you gates! Be lifted up, you everlasting doors, And the King of glory shall come in.” (Psalm 24:7)
Yet we must not stop merely with the experience of being filled with the anointing of glory. Having received His glory, we must arise and shine with that glory. This is what the prophet Isaiah declares: “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1)
You are living in a world covered by darkness. The Lord has appointed you not merely to be a light to the world, but also to manifest His glory in the midst of it. Therefore, it is your responsibility to arise and shine.
“For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:2)
Dear children of God, move forward into the next experience with the Lord. At the coming of Christ, you are destined to go from glory to glory and be transformed into His likeness. In the land of glory, you will rejoice forever with Christ, the King of glory. Yes, that day is drawing near.
Verse for further meditation: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)
