Jul 21 – A Dwelling Place!
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2–3)
As Jesus Christ was preparing to leave this world, He gave His disciples a precious promise: He would prepare a dwelling place for them. Heaven contains many dwelling places. Scripture speaks of Mount Zion, where we see the Lamb standing with the one hundred and forty-four thousand who have His Father’s name written on their foreheads (Revelation 14:1).
We also read about the New Jerusalem, which is described as “a bride adorned for her husband” (Revelation 21:2). Furthermore, there is the New Earth, where the redeemed nations will walk in its light (Revelation 21:24). The Bible also speaks of the New Heaven, where a great cloud of witnesses will be gathered (Hebrews 12:1). Thus, God’s Word reveals various glorious realms within His eternal kingdom.
The Lord Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you.” Just think of the magnificence of the dwelling He is preparing for His people! God created this beautiful world in six days. If a world fashioned in six days displays such beauty and wonder, how much more glorious must be the eternal dwelling places that Christ is preparing for His Bride!
The saints of the Old Testament will be gathered into the Father’s house. Those who were perfected through faith will find their place among the faithful. Those who, like Isaac, cultivated a life of meditation and communion with God will rejoice in His presence. Those who, like Jacob, persevered and prevailed in their walk with God, and those who, like Enoch, walked closely with Him, will share in the blessings of eternity.
The saints of old will enjoy the privilege of being the friends of Christ. But we, the Church, are called to be His Bride. We belong to Him, redeemed by His precious blood and united with Him in an everlasting covenant.
The Lord also declared: “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Revelation 3:21)
What an astonishing promise! One day, the redeemed shall reign with Christ and share in His glory.
Children of God, let your heart be set on the eternal dwelling place that Christ is preparing for you. Live each day with the blessed hope of His return, knowing that your true home is with Him forever.
Verse for further meditation: “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.’” (Revelation 21:3)
