Jun 04 – Seek the Lord!
“The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” (Psalm 34:10)
Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. This is an unshakable promise of God. One of the main reasons many people fall into debt, poverty, and lack is because they do not truly seek the Lord.
Even mighty lions, known as the kings of the forest, may become weak during times of famine, and their cubs may suffer from hunger. But the King of kings and Lord of lords will never allow His children to be brought low. No good thing will be lacking to them.
David, who sought the Lord, testified from experience: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” He knew what it meant to live without lack, without falling, and without being forsaken.
That is why, in his old age, David gave an important counsel to Solomon, the crown prince: “You must seek the Lord.” “As for you, my son Solomon, … if you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.” (1 Chronicles 28:9)
Many times, because of our busy schedules, we fail to seek the Lord properly. Worries, struggles, and weariness press upon us and keep us from sitting at the feet of the Lord. As a result, we face countless problems and enemies and become trapped in the snares of sin.
Children of God, it is better to prevent trouble than to seek escape afterward. Commit yourselves to seek the Lord first every day. Did not the Lord promise: “Seek, and you will find”? (Matthew 7:7)
Lord Jesus said: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
What are the blessings that come from seeking the Lord?
- The hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice (Psalm 105:3).
- The hand of the Lord is upon those who seek Him for good (Ezra 8:22).
- He does not forsake those who seek Him (Psalm 9:10).
- Those who seek the Lord understand all things (Proverbs 28:5).
- The Lord showers righteousness upon those who seek Him (Hosea 10:12).
- Those who seek the Lord are blessed (Psalm 119:2).
Many have experienced deliverance from their troubles by seeking the Lord. In the days of King Asa, a great revival took place because the people sought the Lord (2 Chronicles 14:11). When they sought Him, the Lord delivered them from all their enemies and granted them complete rest.
Children of God, seek the Lord. You will surely receive peace, joy, and blessing.
Verse for further meditation: “The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.” (Psalm 14:2)
