May 30 – There Is Help!

“…but your help is from Me.” (Hosea 13:9)

Hosea, one of the minor prophets, wrote fourteen chapters. He often addressed Israel, Judah, and Ephraim directly, declaring the word of the Lord. The central message in Hosea is this: “Return to the Lord—there is help in Him.”

When we move away from the Lord, many troubles follow—sin, curses, poverty, and sorrow. But when we return to God with repentance and tears, there is always help available in Him. He lovingly calls, “O backsliding children, return to Me.” The Bible says: “O Israel, return to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.” (Hosea 14:1). “O Israel, you are destroyed, but your help is from Me.” (Hosea 13:9)

Be assured of this: whatever your condition may be, when you turn to the Lord, His loving arms are ready to embrace you. He will never cast away anyone who comes to Him. The Bible says: “That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” (John 1:9)

In the New Testament, the Lord beautifully illustrates this truth through the parable of the prodigal son. After wasting his inheritance in sinful living, he found himself in deep misery—living among pigs and longing to eat their food. Such is the depth to which sin can bring a person.

But one day, he came to his senses. He said, “If I return to my father, there will surely be help for me. Even the servants in my father’s house have enough to eat and live in peace.” With a repentant heart, he arose and went back, and intended to say, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”

The father, full of compassion, ran to meet him, embraced him, kissed him, put a ring on his hand, clothed him with the best robe, and prepared a feast. All these were acts of help—but the greatest help of all was that he restored him as his son.

Children of God, whatever your condition may be, there is One who will never reject you—Jesus. Turn to Him. Abundant help awaits you.

Verse for further meditation: “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is with those who uphold my life.” (Psalm 54:4)
