May 28 – Thousands and Ten Thousands!
“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels…” (Hebrews 12:22–24)
When a person receives Christ into his heart and draws near to Him, he begins to experience many blessed privileges. He comes to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem—the city of the living God. He comes to the general assembly and Church of the Firstborn who are registered in heaven. He comes to the spirits of just men made perfect. He comes to the blood of Jesus Christ. And not only that—he comes to an innumerable company of angels.
The family of our Heavenly Father is a vast and glorious one. It extends across both earth and heaven. On earth, there are millions of believers. In heaven, there are countless cherubim, seraphim, and angels. Truly, the family of Christ is exceedingly glorious.
Many people wrongly assume that if someone becomes a Christian, he has become socially lower, lost out on privileges, missed opportunities, or may even be rejected by society. But the truth is this: no matter how sinful or poor a person may be, when he accepts Jesus, he comes into the presence of the Almighty God. He becomes a child of the King of kings and enters into a family surrounded by innumerable angels.
Just as we come to the angels, the angels also come to us. God has appointed angels for our sake. Though they are mighty in strength and swift in movement, He has made them ministering spirits to serve us.
The Bible says: “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)
When Satan intends to send forces to tempt or destroy us, the Lord is ready to send chariots of fire, horses, and thousands upon thousands of angels to protect us.
Children of God, will you remain firmly rooted in the family of Christ?
Verse for further meditation: “So he answered, ‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’” (2 Kings 6:15–16)
