May 13 – The Lion of Judah!
“Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” (Revelation 5:5)
In the Bible, there are three, who are compared to a lion: Lord Jesus Christ – the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5), The righteous – bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1), and the devil – like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8)
Though the devil is described like a lion, he is not truly courageous. The Word of God declares: “Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7). The devil is already defeated. At the cross, Christ crushed his head and stripped him of his power and authority. Therefore, the righteous can stand boldly and overcome him.
Stand Firm and Do Not Fear: When the enemy brings problems, resist him. When battles arise and opposition increases, do not lose heart. “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” (Proverbs 24:10). You are not like a frightened mouse running here and there. You are a lion.
The King—the Lion of Judah—is seated on the throne, and you are His child.
The Secret of Boldness: Courage and fervent prayer will strengthen you. One of the greatest diseases is fear. People may speak negative, fear-filled words—especially in times of sickness. They will say things like, “Only one in a hundred survives this particular illness…” “Many have died from this illness…” Such words can weaken a person. But the righteous are not moved by fear—they remain bold like a lion.
When people saw the boldness of Peter and John, they were amazed and realized one thing, that they had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13). That was indeed, their secret.
Even a cub becomes bold when it stays with a lion. Likewise, the more you remain in the presence of the Lord and are filled with the Holy Spirit, the more courage and power will grow within you.
Peter and John were not highly educated scholars, yet they boldly proclaimed the Gospel before rulers and brought about great revival.
Dear child of God, be bold and courageous. The Lord is with you.
Verse for further meditation: “In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.” (Psalm 138:3)
