Oct 28 – Upon Mount Zion!

“Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.” (Revelation 14:1)

When students complete their college education, they would stand together with the college principal on the final day and take a commemorative photograph. The principal sits majestically in the centre, with the vice-principal and the professors who taught the students seated nearby.

In a similar way, those who stand upon Mount Zion will stand together as one united company with the Lamb. What a glorious gathering that will be!

The Apostle John, who was given a vision of this heavenly fellowship, wrote that what the apostles had seen and heard they proclaimed so that others might share in their fellowship—and that their fellowship was with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3).

In the days of the early apostles, there was remarkable unity and loving fellowship among the 120 believers who waited together in the upper room for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1). When Peter preached and about three thousand people were added to the Church, there was also a beautiful spirit of love and fellowship among the believers.

Today, there may be hundreds of churches throughout the world, with different traditions and various teachings. Yet you must connect your heart with the universal Church whose names are written in heaven. You should also have spiritual fellowship with the saints who belong to the heavenly Kingdom. The Scripture says: “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness.” (Hebrews 12:14)

Jesus earnestly prayed to the Father for the unity and loving fellowship of His disciples. We can read this prayer in John 17. But Jesus did not stop with praying for them or teaching them about unity. He demonstrated it through His own life. He began washing the disciples’ feet.

What a profound picture of humility and loving fellowship! Jesus said that if He, their Lord and Teacher, had washed their feet, they too should wash one another’s feet (John 13:14). This is the example Christ has given us.

Therefore, following the example of Christ Jesus, humble yourselves before one another and consider one another better than yourselves.

How can those who refuse to live in unity on earth expect to live in perfect unity in heaven? How can we enter the Kingdom of God while holding bitterness, resentment, rivalry, or hostility in our hearts?

Children of God, use these days of grace that God has given you. Remove every trace of bitterness, resentment, jealousy, and hostility from your heart.

One day, we will stand upon Mount Zion with the Lamb. To be part of that glorious company, humility, unity, and loving fellowship are essential. May the Lord prepare our hearts to stand together with the Lamb upon Mount Zion!

Verse for further meditation: “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob;… For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 2:3)
