Jun 25 – Who Will Show Us Any Good?

“There are many who say, ‘Who will show us any good?’ Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.” (Psalm 4:6).

“Who will show us any good?” — this has become the cry of humanity today. Cries of anguish rise to heaven from people who groan in darkness like worms, saying, “We have no good thing; we have no progress.” Heaven’s answer to that cry is: Jehovah Jireh.

Abraham believed the Lord. He was willing to sacrifice anything for God. When he looked around on the mountain of the Lord, wondering where there would be a lamb to offer in place of his son, he discovered that Jehovah Jireh — the Lord who provides good things — had already prepared a ram for him.

The ram’s horns were caught in the thicket. Abraham took that ram and offered it upon the same altar where his son had been laid.

The Lord wonderfully supplies our needs. With a thankful heart, Abraham cried out to the Lord who met his need, calling Him Jehovah Jireh. This name has two meanings. One is: “Jehovah who accomplishes everything for me.” The second is: “The Lord who meets my need on His mountain.”

Instead of grieving and being troubled, asking, “Who will show us any good?”, when you cry out saying, “Jehovah God, Jehovah Jireh, You who accomplish everything for me,” God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

All Abraham desired and prayed for was a child. But the Lord intended to give him an entire generation of faith. Abraham was ninety-nine years old, and Sarah was eighty-nine. They may have cried out in despair, “Will we ever have a child? Who will show us any good?”

But Jehovah Jireh desired to give them a faithful lineage. The Lord multiplied Abraham’s descendants like the stars of heaven and the sand on the seashore. How fitting it is to lovingly call Him Jehovah and Jehovah Jireh!

“I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.” (Genesis 17:6).

The Lord who promised this to Abraham is faithful.

Children of God, the same Lord who blessed Abraham is mighty to bless you also.

Verse for further meditation: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3).
